What is The Perfect Derma™ Peel?
The Perfect Derma™ Peel is a professional medium-depth chemical peel designed to improve several concerns at the same time, including uneven pigmentation, sun damage, blemish-prone skin, post-inflammatory marks, rough texture, enlarged-looking pores and visible signs of ageing.
Rather than relying on a single exfoliating acid, it uses a multi-ingredient approach to resurface and refresh the skin. Importantly, the manufacturer describes The Perfect Derma™ Peel as the first professional-grade chemical peel formulated with glutathione. That antioxidant component is one of the features that distinguishes it from many conventional chemical peels.
The treatment is intended for professional use and is described by the manufacturer as suitable for all skin types and ethnicities. Application itself takes approximately 15 minutes. The treatment is designed to create controlled exfoliation rather than simply producing the greatest amount of peeling possible.
What can you expect afterwards?
Visible peeling commonly takes place over around two to four days, although every skin responds differently. As the superficial damaged cells shed, the aim is for the skin to look clearer, smoother and evener in tone, with improvements in overall radiance and texture.

Why glutathione?
Glutathione is an antioxidant naturally present in the body. In skincare it is of particular interest for its antioxidant activity and its relationship with pathways involved in pigmentation.
Oxidative stress is involved in many of the changes we associate with environmental damage and skin ageing, so antioxidants have a useful place in a well-planned routine. We would not, however, choose a skincare product simply because it contains one fashionable ingredient. Pigmentation, acne and ageing are rarely one-ingredient problems. 5-A-Day is one of the gentler options in the collection and is useful when the skin needs nourishment and support rather than further exfoliation.
Alongside glutathione, the formula contains ingredients including squalene, vitamin E, calendula, arnica and aloe. It is a sensible choice for skin that feels dry, depleted or in need of a little more comfort.
It also has a useful place alongside stronger actives. We can become very focused on acids and retinoids, but there are times when supporting the skin barrier is far more beneficial than adding another exfoliating product.

Hit Reset
For pigmentation, sun damage, uneven tone and visible ageing.
Hit Reset is the product we would be particularly interested in where pigmentation and uneven skin tone are the main concerns.
Its formulation combines retinol, arbutin, kojic acid, niacinamide, vitamin C, tranexamic acid and ferulic acid with glutathione. Rather than approaching pigmentation from one direction, it brings together ingredients that work through different pathways.
The inclusion of retinol also makes it relevant where texture and signs of ageing are concerns alongside pigmentation. It is an active formula, though, and should be introduced with some thought, especially if retinoids or exfoliating acids are already part of the routine.

As A Lake
For congestion, blemish-prone skin and the marks left behind after breakouts.
As A Lake combines azelaic acid and salicylic acid with niacinamide and glutathione, amongst other ingredients.
Salicylic acid is oil soluble, which makes it particularly useful for oily and congested skin. Azelaic acid is another ingredient I like where blemishes, post-inflammatory pigmentation and uneven tone overlap. Niacinamide adds further support, making this much more than a straightforward exfoliating acid product.
For somebody whose pigmentation tends to follow spots or inflammation, this type of formulation can make more sense than concentrating on brightening ingredients alone.

Night Shift
For dullness, rough texture and overnight resurfacing.
Night Shift is the dedicated resurfacing product in the range, combining glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids.
This mixture of alpha and beta hydroxy acids helps lift accumulated surface cells and can improve the appearance of dullness, uneven texture and congestion.
I would not automatically combine Night Shift with every other active in the bathroom cabinet. If retinol or another exfoliating treatment is already being used, the routine needs to be considered. Over-exfoliated skin is not healthier skin.

Pep Talk
For occasional, more intensive resurfacing.
Pep Talk is an at-home mask treatment rather than an everyday serum or moisturiser.
It combines exfoliating acids with a substantial group of ingredients used in pigmentation and skin-renewal routines, including kojic acid, tranexamic acid, azelaic acid, vitamin C, retinol and glutathione.
This is one of the more intensive products in the collection. It can be useful when an occasional resurfacing treatment is wanted, but it is also a product to use thoughtfully. If the usual routine already contains acids and retinoids, simply adding another strong treatment can quickly tip the skin into irritation.

Front Cover – Weightless Glutathione SPF 50+
For daily UV protection, pigmentation-prone skin and maintaining results.
Front Cover is an important part of the range because treating pigmentation without addressing daily UV exposure makes very little sense. It is a lightweight SPF 50+ with glutathione, designed to provide high daily sun protection with additional antioxidant support. The texture is intended to be comfortable enough for everyday wear and to sit well underneath makeup.
For pigmentation-prone skin, sunscreen is not an optional extra at the end of the routine. It is part of the treatment strategy. Front Cover also makes an obvious partner to the more active Glutaceuticals products, particularly Hit Reset, Night Shift and Pep Talk.
Which one would I choose?
For pigmentation and sun damage, we would look first at Hit Reset. Where blemishes, congestion and post-breakout marks are the problem, As A Lake is likely to be more relevant. Night Shift is the more obvious choice for dull, rough or congested skin needing resurfacing, while Pep Talk provides an occasional more intensive treatment.
5-A-Day has a different role and is useful when hydration and barrier support need to take priority. Front Cover belongs in the daytime routine, particularly when pigmentation or active treatments are involved.
There may be good reasons to use more than one product from the range, but that does not mean they should all be used together.
Beyond Glutaceuticals
The Perfect Peel family also includes The Perfect C, Hyaluronic & Peptide Perfection Serum, Perfect Cleanser, Body Wash and Body Lotion, extending the range into antioxidant support, hydration, cleansing and body care.
This is useful for somebody who likes the Perfect Peel approach but does not necessarily need a highly active acid or retinoid product every day.
Can Glutaceuticals be used with retinol?
Yes, potentially, but the ingredient lists need to be considered before combining products.
Hit Reset already contains retinol. Night Shift provides significant exfoliation, and Pep Talk contains several active ingredients. Layering these indiscriminately with prescription retinoids, strong retinol products or additional exfoliating acids can cause unnecessary irritation.
Sometimes improving a skincare routine is not about adding another product. It is knowing what to leave out.
A note about pigmentation
Pigmentation is not one single condition. Sun-induced pigmentation, post-inflammatory pigmentation after acne and melasma can behave quite differently, so the same routine will not be right for everybody.
Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is particularly important when treating pigmentation. There is little value in investing in sophisticated pigment-correcting ingredients while continuing to expose the skin to UV without adequate protection.
Choosing the right routine
