Botox at our Chapel Allerton Clinic is the most popular treatment carried out in our Leeds Clinic and this seems to follow suit around the world with more than 6 million Botox treatments administered each year. It has been used safely and effectively in cosmetics for many years with long lasting results on expressions lines of the face. It is the treatment of choice to help prevent and improve facial wrinkles and lines that are caused by repetitive muscle movement. Our Leeds clients prove Botox to the top anti-ageing treatment that aesthetic medicine currently has to offer.
How does Botox work?
Botox works by temporarily blocking the release of a chemical substance called acetylcholine, which transmits information to the muscle causing it to contract and tighten. The role of Botox is to keep the muscle in a relaxed state by inactivating it so that the skin will not be tightened and pulled which causes the wrinkling. This will keep the skin looking smoother giving you the appearance of looking more refreshed and youthful.
How long with Botox last?
The effects of Botox will last approximately over three months and after this the treatment will need to be repeated. However, over time and by having repeated treatments the muscle activity is weakened and the results can last a lot longer.
What are the most common areas to treat with Botox?

  • Frown Lines between the eyebrows (glabella)
  • Lines around the eyes (crow’s feet)
  • Forehead lines (horizontal lines)
  • Bunny lines (side of the nose)

What are the most common side effects?
Most side effects are associated with the injection (redness, stinging sensation, rarely bruising) and will be very short lived maybe only hours. Some people may experience a mild headache for a few days following treatment yet this will be easily treatable.
