Botox Headingley, Leeds Clinic
There has been a lot of media coverage over recent years with regards to men and Botox and in 2013 we saw the word ‘Brotox’ start to trend through the magazines and tabloids. According to MI Skin Dermatology Centre there has been an increase in the number of men receiving aesthetics treatments; with Botox making it into the top five of that treatment list. Big celebrity names such as Simon Cowell and Ryan Clark have both admitted to having Botox and it would seem that the male population are following suit.
Interestingly in 2012, the Guardian published an article reporting that men are more concerned about their appearance and body shape than women are. According to the study, 38% of males in that study declared they would give up a minimum of one year of their life that have the perfect body. I am sure you will agree that this seems slightly excessive but what the study does show is the importance for aesthetic treatments to be accessible both to men and women alike without any stigma attached.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in 2015 said that cosmetic procedures have been gaining traction among men for some time now. ASPS President Scot Glasberg, MD said that the idea that these procedures are the sole province of women is one that should be left in a less enlightened past. And we have to agree. Botox can benefit clients in a variety of ways; more commonly known to treat wrinkles but it can also help those who suffer from migraines and excessive sweating.
