INTRODUCTION
Micro-needling is a collagen stimulating treatment great for skin rejuvenation aiming for smoother, firmer and more even toned skin.
This is a popular cosmetic procedure used mainly on the face to stimulate the production of collagen/elastin and aid the penetration of active skin ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, peptides, brightening agents…etc. It is effectively used on the body in improving the appearance of stretch marks and on the scalp to promote hair growth and density.

HOW DOES SKIN NEEDLING WORK?
A Dermapen or Dermaroller device is used which contains many tiny needles that gently pierce the surface layer of the skin. The device is rolled over the skin to create a microscopic injury which in turn stimulates the healing and repair cells within the skin to produce collagen and elastin. Different depths of needles are used dependant on concerns of the individual and the results we are looking to achieve.
HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
Microneedling is minimally invasive with very little downtime, slight redness, swelling and irritation may occur for a few days after the procedure, very occasionally mild bruising may appear.
DOES IT HURT?
A numbing cream will be applied to the area before the procedure which helps manage any discomfort you may feel.
IS THE TREATMENT SAFE?
Yes, it is a safe treatment.
HOW LONG WILL THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
The treatment will take approximately 45- 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
WILL I SEE RESULTS QUICKLY?
It depends on what skin condition you are treating usually you will need more than one treatment, typically improvements in tone and texture is visible following second or third treatment. Certain skin conditions will need more treatments.
WHO CAN HAVE THE TREATMENT?
Suitable for most people. Exclusions: under the age of 18 years, pregnancy or breastfeeding, history of keloid scarring, undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy, known wound healing problems.
HOW LONG WILL RESULTS LAST?
Skin is living, dynamic tissue always growing and changing as we age and every person’s skin reacts differently to injury. So, there is no precise answer yet following your treatments it is expected that a maintenance programme where a 3-6 monthly procedure is undertaken.
