As we get older your hands are one of the first areas to show signs of ageing, this skin becomes thinner and is subject to daily wear and tear. Ageing hands are a normal part of the ageing process over time producing wrinkles, prominence of veins, tendons and hallowing showing areas of volume and tissue loss. You get textural and pigmentary changes in the skin yet these will be addressed by different treatments such as mesotherapy, chemical peels or lasers.
There are two main types of non-invasive injectable hand rejuvenation treatments for dry skin, laxity and volume loss. One being used to increase hydration and improve skin quality the other is addressing volume replenishment. Hyaluronic acid skin hydrators or Profhilo are used to hydrate the skin and improve tone and texture, to add volume to the ageing hand we use collagen stimulatory dermal fillers Radiesse or Ellanse.

HOW DOES HAND REJUVENATION WORK?
Collagen stimulatory fillers are carefully injected into the back of the hands to restore volume providing a lifting and contouring effect to reduce the appearance of veins, tendons and bones. Radiesse and Ellanse are FDA approved dermal fillers that stimulate the production of the body’s own collagen and are long-lasting.
Profhilo acts within the skin to increase thickness, elasticity improving skin texture and tone and reducing lines and wrinkles; it acts as a hydrator and over weeks boosts the skins collagen and elastin.
Hyaluronic Skin Hydrators are ideal for delicate, dry skins and provide hydration deep in the dermis with benefits on ongoing hydration making hands softer and smoother.
HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
The downtime required after this treatment is minimal. You may experience some redness, swelling and tenderness lasting a few days. Bruising is a possibility and this will settle within 2 weeks.
DOES IT HURT?
For patient comfort most dermal fillers have the addition of a numbing agent added ‘Lidocaine’ and we can also add a topical numbing cream if needed.
IS THE TREATMENT SAFE?
These treatments have been safely used for many years worldwide and have a remarkable safety record; they are all temporary and biodegradable within the body.
HOW LONG WILL THE PROCEDURE TAKE?
Approximately 30-45 minutes.
WILL I SEE RESULTS QUICKLY?
Yes, with the collagen stimulatory fillers volume replacement will be immediate however with the Hyaluronic acid skin hydrator’s results are progressive over the recommended course of two or three treatments, 2-4 weeks apart.
WHO CAN HAVE THE TREATMENT?
Anyone over 18 years of age and the treatment is deemed suitable. Pregnancy and breast feeding mothers are excluded or allergy to any of the ingredients.
HOW LONG WILL RESULTS LAST?
Collagen dermal stimulators both Radiesse and Ellanse last over 12-18months
Hyaluronic acid hydrators last up to 6 months and then one session is recommended as maintenance.
