 Fat Loss Injections – What are they? 

Fat loss or fat dissolving injections are designed to treat those difficult localised pockets of fat. They can be used to treat small, exercise resistant, pockets of fat around the chin, chest, abdomen, thighs, knees and ankles. It is very effective for body contouring, but is not a treatment for weight loss.

The treatment works by causing the fat cells to rupture, releasing the contents into the surrounding tissues for the bodies drainage system to remove from the body. The treatment is considered to be a non surgical alternative to liposuction

Is the treatment invasive? 

This treatment is safe and effective. Local anesthetic is used to minimise any discomfort. With any injection treatment side effects can occur, which will be discussed at consultation. Immediately after treatment you may appear red and swollen with some bruising on the treated area. The injections work by causing an inflammatory reaction in the fat cells which can result in swelling for 1-5 days. The treated area may feel tender and firm for up to 8 weeks post treatment.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

Fat dissolving injections are a face/body contouring treatment, so designed for clients that have a healthy lifestyle but have isolated stubborn areas of fat. If you are significantly overweight then this treatment may not be suitable until you reach a healthy BMI.

Medical conditions such as; diabetes. liver or kidney disease. active skin problem in the area to be treated or if you take any blood thinning medicine e.g warfarin then the treatment will not be suitable.

A full consultation will be carried out prior to treatment to determine whether the treatment is suitable for you.

How many treatments will I need? 

The number of  treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. Typically 1-3 treatments for small areas, such as the jowls and under the chin, and 2-8 treatments for larger areas such as the thighs. Treatments are spaced at 6 weekly intervals. Results are typically seen 6 weeks after your final treatment.
