Acne Scar Treatment Leeds

What is Acne Scarring?

Acne scarring can sometimes develop as a complication of acne. Acne scars commonly result from an inflamed acne lesion where the pore swells and causes a break in the follicle wall.
There are three main types of acne scars:

  • ice pick scars – small, deep holes in the surface of your skin that look like the skin has been punctured with a sharp object
  • rolling scars – caused by bands of scar tissue that form under the skin, giving the surface of the skin a rolling and uneven appearance
  • boxcar scars – round or oval depressions, or craters, in the skin

What Treatment is available?

At Medifine Aesthetics we offer a range of treatments to help improve the appearance of acne scarring.

  • Laser Treatment

We use a non-ablative laser treatment, which stimulates the growth of new collagen (a type of protein found in skin), which helps to repair some of the damage caused by scarring, and improves the appearance. Prices can vary for laser treatment depending on the size and severity of the scarring. Prices do start from £100 and we do offer a free consultation so all details and costings can be planned out prior to treatment.

  • Dermaroller Treatment

Dermaroller works by being rolled over the scar tissue where they break down and stimulate the skin cells to help them proliferate and heal themselves. Dermaroller acne treatment is proven to boost collagen and elastin formation by improving the blood supply. Not only has it been proven to work on acne scar tissue; it can also improve overall skin tone and texture. Prices vary depending on size of area being treated prices start from £175 per treatment.

  • PRP

Using the platelet rich plasma from the patients own blood which contains beneficial growth factors; this can help heal the skin and promote collagen and elastin regeneration. We often recommend PRP as an add-on therapy to laser acne scar treatments, to deliver the best results possible to our acne scar patients.Prices for PRP treatment are priced from £300.

  • Resurfacing Treatments and Skincare

Very much depending on the severity of the scarring and by no means a quick fix, resurfacing treatments and skincare can be looked at to help minimise scarring and even out skin texture and tone.
